Area Information - Clinton, CT Clinton is located on the Connecticut shore of Long Island Sound midway between New Haven and New London, covers 17.8 square miles and is home to some 13,500 residents. Clinton was originally settled in 1663. The town was named and incorporated when the town of Killingworth was divided in 1838.
