The town of Killingworth is populated by 5,010 people covering 36.0 sq. miles, named in 1667, is a cozy New England village community located in south central Connecticut in the southwestern section of Middlesex County. Killingworth has one of the few state parks which is located in the central section of town. Chatfield Hollow State Park is a large year-round recreation area for fresh water fishing and swimming, hiking, biking and roller blading trails, picnicking and natural caves for exploration, there is ease of access for commuting from secondary routes and Interstate 95, Long Island Sound and Hammonasset State Beach Park are located in close proximity for additional recreational activities.
Killingworth is predominantly a quiet suburban bedroom community located within an approximate 30 mile radius of major urban employment areas. Locally, there are small retail stores and businesses, places of worship, bed and breakfast inns, the Killingworth Elementary School and Library, and there is a Connecticut state troopers office located in Killingworth. The school system is among the highest rated in Connecticut.
